When you need to change the MTD belts you can do this yourself which is relatively easy. This is how you change the drive belt:

• Make sure that you have all the necessary tools

• Firstly you need to drain the petrol from the machine or alternatively just place a sheet of plastic under the cap

• Then remove the plastic belt cover at the front of the engine by removing the self tapping screws

• Then pull the snow thrower up and rest it on top of the machine

• Then underneath the snow thrower remove the tap screws from the cover frame

• The idler pulley must be pulled away from the drive belt and removed from the engine

• Then you need to slip the belt between the friction wheel and friction disc and remove the belt

• Fit the new belt on and reassemble.
